Mark 12:17 Jesus said to them, "Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's." And they were amazed at him.
Jesus has a way of not explicitly answering questions, but rather putting the question to the people. This is not to allow people to make their own morality or law,but what it does is it makes the people struggle with the truth. That is what we need to do, we need to struggle with the truth. We need to deal with what is right and what is wrong.
Of course everything belongs to God. So there is the rub. If we truly believe that God is the creator of all things, then all things belong to him. We need only render to Caesar the things that corrupt and take us away from God.
Father, help me by your Holy Spirit to always seek what is right and to face the struggle. Help me to have the courage to do what is right and not to look for easy answers that avoid the real issue of sin and devotion to God.
