The contrast between building our house on a rock vs. building it on sand it a great question that confronts the church today. A rock is one and mighty, strong and stable. Sand is many and makes for a weak foundation and it moves with the tides and the wind. The question is are we rock or sand. If the church can unite as one we can be a rock and a mountain for the world to see. But when we divide into many parts we become weak and we can't withstand the waves of the culture we live in. We are here today and gone tomorrow.
As we struggle to understand God's call on our lives we must always keep in mind that in the economy of God's grace there is no value in individuals. Only in community and fellowship. God is love and we can't love without being united.
Father, help me by your Holy Spirit to always consider that I am part of a community and a kingdom and I am not an individual accountable to no one but my self. Help me Lord to follow your commands and to be able to love others as myself.
Amen
