| First Reading: Psalm: Second Reading: Gospel: | Isaiah 49:1-6 Psalm 139:1-3, 13-15 Acts 13:22-26 Luke 1:57-66, 80 |
Isaiah 49:6 he says: "It is too light a thing that you should be my servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob and to restore the preserved of Israel; I will give you as a light to the nations, that my salvation may reach to the end of the earth."
We can get caught up in going to church and thinking that we are doing God's will being his servants there. But God calls Israel to be a light to the nations. It is too small a thing to just be good to themselves. It is important that they be good so the world can see and give glory to God. We are not to hide our light under a bushel Jesus says, but we are to put it on a mountain so all can see and our good works will bring glory to God.
Father, help me by your Holy Spirit to get out of my own little world and understand that I must be visible and effective in this world so that the world can know you and glorify you.
Amen
