No one can serve two masters

First: 2 Chronicles 24:17-25
Resp: Psalm 89:4-5,29-34
Gospel: Matthew 6:24-34

Matthew 6:24 "No one can serve two masters. He will either hate one and love the other, or be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.

This verse is taking on a bit of a new meaning for me. When you put this together with the rest of the passage where Jesus tells us not to worry about what we eat or wear I wonder about what he means by serving two masters.
I think that he is saying that our allegiance should not be double minded. That is that we should boldly follow Christ. Today there is the impression of enlightenment when we try to be accepting of others faiths, beliefs and lifestyles. God tells us bluntly that we are not to do that. Jesus tells us not to worry about our physical well being, that God will take care of us if we follow him boldly. But if we are double minded and we fear that we will not have the pleasures and comforts of this life then God will withdraw his blessings.
In this day of political correctness we must stand up and follow Christ boldly. Don't be afraid and don't worry about what they might do, that they might reject you.

Father, help me by your Holy Spirit to always boldly follow you. Help me to have the courage and the faith to trust you and not worry about what this world will do to me.

Amen
