you also must be ready

First Reading: Psalm: Gospel:

1 Corinthians 1:1-9 Psalm 145:2-7 Matthew 24:42-51

Matthew 24:44  Therefore you also must be ready; for the Son of man is coming at an hour you do not expect.

We tend to think because each day passes and there is no judgement that God will always be patient and we have plenty of time to come around.  The fact is we don't know when our last moment will be and we must be ready at all times.  That means we must be working on righteousness all the time.

Father, help me by your Holy Spirit to always be seeking to be righteous.  Help me not to rest in my sin thinking that I I will always have time.
