his heart is firm

Psalm 112:7  He is not afraid of evil tidings; his heart is firm, trusting in the LORD.

We are called in today's readings to have a heart that is willing to give to the hungry and free the oppressed.  To do that we must be strong however.  We must be able to trust God or we will resort to our own selfish ways.  It is natural for man to act to survive.  If we feel our survival is at stake, then we will turn to our own defenses.  If we trust God we can be generous because we realize that he can do all things.

Father, help me by your Holy Spirit to trust in you full so that I can have a generous heart and be willing to give when it is needed.

Amen
