First: Exodus 34:4-6,8-9
Resp: Daniel 3:52-55
Second: 2 Corinthians 13:11-13
Gospel: John 3:16-18
Exodus 34:9 Then he said, "If I find favor with you, O Lord, do come along in our company. This is indeed a stiff-necked people; yet pardon our wickedness and sins, and receive us as your own."
We are not worthy of God's care and presence. We have been given every opportunity to do right and yet we still reject Him. We too are a stiff necked people. But Christ, as Moses did, and as a man, asks that we be forgiven base on his merit. He could easily reject us as we do him, but through mercy and love he forgives us, not on our merit, but because of his own. Are we even willing to accept that?
Father, help me by your Holy Spirit to always appreciate the fact that I don't deserve anything. It is all grace. Thank you for that.
Amen
