| First Reading: Psalm: Gospel: | 1 Corinthians 15:1-8 Psalm 19:2-5 John 14:6-14 |
John 14:12 "Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I go to the Father.
We will not do more works because Jesus left in the sense that he got out of the way. Rather because he now comes to us in the person of the Holy Spirit we have access to him that we would not otherwise have. That means we always have access to Christ. That means we have no excuse to knowingly make wrong decisions. We can always come to Jesus and ask him and he will answer. That should empower us to do whatever needs to be done and to be true and honest in all we do.
We can do more works because the Body of Christ is all around the world now.
Father, help me by your Holy Spirit to always come to you when I need help and when I am thankful for the help you give me. Help me to not turn down opportunities to do what is right because I feel alone and to small for the task. Help me to know that I can do all things through you.
Amen
