First Reading: Genesis 1:26-31 -- 2:1-3 or Colossians 3:14-15, 17, 23-24
Psalm: Psalm 90:2-4, 12-14, 16
Gospel: Matthew 13:54-58
Colossians 3:17 And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
We are made in God's image, and Jesus, the son of God became man for us. We are very important to God. To know how important we are to him and how much he is willing to give for us should raise in us a desire to do everything for him.
When someone does something nice or meaningful for us we are usually willing to do something for that person as a token of our thanks. That is what we are called to do as Christians. To do everything as a token of thanks, to God.
Being thankful is what separates us from the non-believers. They have nobody to thank.
Father, help me by your Holy Spirit to at all time and in all places give you thanks and be willing to do what ever you call me to do as a token of my thanks.
Amen
