Faith comes from the Spirit

1 Corinthians 12:3 Therefore, I tell you that nobody speaking by the spirit of God says, "Jesus be accursed." And no one can say, "Jesus is Lord," except by the holy Spirit.

Because many of today's Christians have no experience with Pentecost from their lives as unbelievers, there is a tendency to not celebrate Pentecost now that they are believers.  But it is only by the Holy Spirit that they can believe.  We should be giving thanks and celebrating Pentecost because this is the gift that God gave so that we might believe and be saved.  In short, to celebrate Christmas and Easter and not celebrate Pentecost makes you wonder what they are celebrating.  These all go together.  You can't have one or two without the other(s).  They, all three go together.  Let's celebrate the gift of the Holy Spirit.

Father, it is by your Holy Spirit that I am even able to believe.  I give you thanks for that. Today I celebrate Pentecost and pray that all believers will come to know that it is your gift of the Spirit that they can thank.

Amen
