Luke 21:17 you will be hated by all for my name's sake.
It has often been mentioned that the USA is looked down upon by the rest of the world. Well, maybe that is a good thing. Maybe it is a good thing when people look down on us because of our Christian faith. Maybe it is a good thing when they look down on us because we oppose abortion and euthanasia and embryonic stem cell research.
Jesus said that when they hate you for my name sake, then you are blessed.
Father, help me by your Holy Spirit to stay true to your teaching, mercy and grace rather than seek the approval of non- believers. Help me in the face of persecution.
Amen

Dan,
I'm not sure the USA is hated because we as a nation have been faithful to God's Word. I think we are hated because we have an abundance and are just as evil as the rest of the world. I think if this nation was really God fearing, we would be much more respected by the world. Probably not liked, especially by those who despise God, but at least respected. This would not be a material respect, but a spiritual respect. When we look at Israel when they were faithful to God, they florished as a nation and had the respect of other nations. They still had their enemies, but they were the fringe.
We as a nation now are more like Israel was just before Babylon came and destroyed them. We too, are in for a 'Captivity" as Israel had.
