Matthew 5:16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.
We often hear that we can not, nor need we do good works to achieve salvation. But the problem with this view is that is is self centered. The good works are not for our benefit alone, but for the glory of God. That should be our goal and mission. Not just our own personal salvation, but the glory of God. And you have to ask yourself, if we don’t want to give glory to God, then why do we want to be saved at all? After all, that is what we will be doing for eternity.
Father, help me by your Holy Spirit to always seek to give you the glory and to do good works for your glory.
