But he went out

First Reading:
Psalm:
Gospel:
Hebrews 3:7-14
Psalm 95:6-11
Mark 1:40-45

Mark 1:45  But he went out and began to talk freely about it, and to spread the news, so that Jesus could no longer openly enter a town, but was out in the country; and people came to him from every quarter.

We are people who think we have a good sense of what is right and what is true.  But sometimes that is exactly the wrong thing.  In the wilderness the people thought that Moses was not the one to follow even though God had chosen him.  The leper didn't obey Jesus' command and that prevented Jesus from preaching in certain areas.  That means because of this man's disobedience there were some who were potentially deprived of the Gospel.
How many times do we deprive others of hearing the truth because we think we know better?  Does our joy and exuberance prevent the Gospel from getting to some?  Are we willing to really obey Jesus?

Father, help me by your Holy Spirit to always seek to obey you even when I think I know better.  Help me to trust you fully and realize that the world and your plan is far bigger than me.

Amen
